Attack Your Weaknesses

It is a CrossFit tenat that working your weakness will make you better at your strengths. Coach D has started a new blog "Project Hour".  The blog will record her daily quest to increase her work capacity across broad time and model domains.  The projects will vary and may serve as a jumping off point for any athlete interested in adding volume and spending additional time working specific skills.

Workout:

Two rounds for score of:
Tabata Squats
Muscle-up for four minutes
Rest

No rest between finishing T. squats and muscle-ups. This is a 16-minute workout with rest at 8 minutes.

Steeped in the CrossFit model is the idea of the garage gym.  That there is no need for a 10,000sq-ft facility filled with fancy equipment.  An athlete can do CrossFit with a minimal amount of gear and nothing more than a garage.  It isn't always easy to train without the amenities, however there is something very noble about the endeavor. 

Matt has outfitted his garage and instead of following CrossFit.com or coming up with his own program, he follows CrossFit Santa Cruz's workout.  With a recent trip home Matt showed us the results of his hard work and completed Grace is 2:16. Keep it up and get back as soon as you can!

Give 60 minutes to practicing handstands, walking on hands, pressing to handstand, etc.

CrossFit is not for everyone.  It takes a bit of a special breed to be willing to set your ego aside, push through the discomfort and stick with it. The workouts are hard and they never get easier. We like the fact that as soon as you get good at something there is always something else you were neglecting and get to work on that.

Happy New Year!  2011 has started and our quest to increase our work capacity across broad time and modal domains remains. We will continue to insist on proper technique and high intensity, we will continue to ask you to learn new things and re-learn the old.  The journey to getting fit is simply that, a journey.  A journey that will be both challenging and rewarding. Both painful and healing.
