All five menbers of the O'Regan family do CrossFit here at the gym. Dawn and Brian have instilled a great work ethic in their three daughters while helping them stay balanced, fun loving, and sweet. They demonstate maturity, confidence and grace. It is a real gift to get to watch the gene pool and work with them all.

The Cohort Competition is coming to a close, we will be anouncing the winners at the holiday party on the 18th.  The final assignment is up and it is time to evaluate your improvement.

We will be placing the sweatshirt order on Monday, so if you wish to pre-order one and save a few bucks, please sign up for it at the gym by the end of the weekend.

2010 Holiday Party

For the past few years the CrossFit Santa Cruz Holiday party has been a great chance for us all to get together and have a great time while not in sweaty clothes.  There are many holiday parties out there, and there are many fitness programs to choose from, but as we all know, some are just plain better than others. Don't miss out.

This years Holiday Party will be on Saturday December 18th.  Kai and Brad have been gracious enough to host us at their home.  Location and Directions will be available at the gym.

We are planning a potluck so please bring your favorite holiday dish and/or beverage.

To prevent too many of the same type of dish, please post to comments what you plan to bring as well as who you will be coming with and how you plan on getting there. Their house is not within biking/walking distance for most of us, so lets make an effort to coordinate carpooling and designated drivers.

Keeping Your Head Straight

There is a mental checklist we need to go through when getting ready to lift. We remind ourselves to keep our belly tight, chest up and knees out. It is easy to forget that the head and neck are an extension of the spine and need to stay inline. The common mistakes are looking down and dropping the chin or looking up and raising the chin.  We cue our athletes to look straight ahead.
