There is a mental checklist we need to go through when getting ready to lift. We remind ourselves to keep our belly tight, chest up and knees out. It is easy to forget that the head and neck are an extension of the spine and need to stay inline. The common mistakes are looking down and dropping the chin or looking up and raising the chin. We cue our athletes to look straight ahead.
