We don't have mirrors at CrossFit Santa Cruz. New athletes sometimes mistakenly believe that watching themselves during complicated movements will help. We prefer our athletes to learn to feel proper mechanics and to be each others mirrors. Watching other athletes who move well and trying to mimic them is a great way to improve. That is one reason why we often use a demonstration athlete to show proper technique. Also a video camera or iPhone and be a great tool for watching your movement in real time, frame by frame, or in slow motion. The video comes in handy for athletes once they know what to look for.
