This is the first resource post for the "Consistency is King" Competition.
What is Real Food?
Real Food is vegetables, lean meats, nuts and seeds, little starch, and no sugar. In 2003 CrossFit put out an article called "Avoiding Metabolic Derangement". The article details the CrossFIt philosophy on nutrition.
What is the Zone?
Protein should be lean and varied and account for about 30% of your total caloric load.
Carbohydrates should be predominantly low-glycemic and account for about 40% of your total caloric load.
Fat should be predominantly monounsaturated and account for about 30% of your total caloric load.
Zone Meal Plans is a great starting point for those ready to start strong.
If starting out seems daunting, don't worry. Come to the gym on Sunday at 11am for a Q&A on nutrition. Just like intensity and movements are scalable, so is nutrition.
