Every time you pass the yellow paint on the floor you have the opportunity to make a conscious decision about your training. When you enter the gym and step onto the black mats that is your moment to make CrossFit work for you. Come in with intention, leave the rest of your life behind for that hour, and focus on the task before you. It may just change your attitude in life.

We like to consider everyone that trains at CrossFit Santa Cruz as an athlete.  We believe that being an athlete is more a state of mind than a level of accomplishment.  Being an athlete means that you care about what you are doing.  It means that you have a reason to train and a purpose for getting better.

Workout:

Ten rounds of:
1 Weighted pull-up, 50 pound dumbbell
3 Strict pull-ups
5 Kipping pull-ups
Each round should be completed unbroken. If you drop off the bar, restart from the beginning of the round. If you can, wear a weight vest.

The lessons we learn at the gym during stressful situations, be it pressure from spectators, the fear of heavy weight or the agony of a long workout may also bleed into our everyday lives.  Learning to deal with challenging events outside of the gym become easier and more manageable after suffering through a few tough workouts.

Reverse Tabata intervals, 10 seconds on, 20 seconds off for 8 rounds each of:
Front Squat 80-90%
rest 2:00
Shoulder press 80-90%
rest 2:00
Deadlift 80-90%

This year the lead up to the CrossFit Games is open to everyone.  In an attempt to broaden the search for the fittest man and woman on the planet, CrossFit is providing a venue for every CrossFit athlete to test themselves against the best.  This year they want you.

The final rules are yet to be announced, but we do know one thing, for six weeks starting March 15th, CrossFit.com will post a workout and ask for scores.  Each week they will tally the scores and we will find out who are the fittest individuals and also who has the fittest affiliate.  If you want to represent CrossFit Santa Cruz now is your chance.
