Day Two

CFSC-PaulaMarkC2B Mark During the Open

The first day of Competition for the 2011 CrossFit games is over. It was an incredible down here in LA.

Athletes were tested in new and exiting ways, unexpected outcomes happened and we have just begun. Our very own Mark Rosen had a tremendous day of competition. He took 2nd place in the Overhead squat push-up shuttle run workout in spectacular fashion. He later took 4th place in the Clean and Jerk with an impressive best lift of 215 pounds. He showed composure, grace, and intensity and all the while kept a smile on his face. Mark goes into day two in 2nd place.

Mark continues his journey tomorrow with the muscle up/thruster workout at 11:12am and the chipper at 6:55 pm.

Working with the stick can be a great practice and positioning tool. We like to use it a lot when working on the Snatch in particular. The Burgener warm up and skill transfer exercises can make a huge difference in your Olympic lifts when used on a regular basis.

You know what else can really help your overhead movements? Working on your handstands. We are very exited to announce that on Saturday August 13th our very own Laurie Galassi will be coaching both a beginning and an advanced handstand clinic.
