Cueing and terminology vary greatly by coach. Different cues work for some while not for others. What is said is not nearly as important as what the athlete interprets. We use "receive the bar" when we talk about Olympic style weightlifting. We want our athletes meeting the bar at its apogee. Doing so is critical to successful lifts.
